Xavier Mendoza is Esade's Director General since September 2022.

Xavier is an Associate Professor in the Strategy and General Management department and the current director of the Observatory of Spanish Multinational Companies (OEME), a research unit jointly promoted by ESADE and ICEX. He served as dean of ESADE Business School (2000-2008) and as deputy director general of ESADE (2008-2011).

Professor Mendoza's research studies internationalization processes of firms, strategic management of multinational companies, and management education. His work has been published in journals such as Corporate Governance, Long Range Planning or Journal of Business Research and in books such as the Handbook of Research on Family Business or the OEME Annual Reports. He received the Outstanding Paper Award for the best article published in the journal Corporate Governance in 2008.

Professor Mendoza currently teaches Executive, MBA and MSc students at ESADE in the areas of corporate strategy and international business. He has lectured and presented conference papers at several academic institutions and professional associations in Europe, North and South America, and Asia.

Prior to his appointment as Dean, he combined his academic activities with consultancy in business strategy. In addition to working for Spanish and multinational companies in different industries, he also advised several public administrations and NGOs in Spain. Professor Mendoza has extensive international experience as accreditation reviewer and has participated in more than 20 peer review visits to leading higher education institutions around the world.

Dr. Mendoza is currently member of the Executive Committee of the Business Association of Latin American Studies (BALAS) and the Editorial Advisory Committee of Corporate Governance. He was elected member of the Board of Directors of AACSB-International (2008-2011) after serving in its Initial Accreditation Committee for six years. He also served in other committees of ACCSB, the most important international association of business schools. As dean of ESADE Business School he was one of the founders of the European Academy of Business in Society (EABIS) and served as member and Academic Vice-Chair of its Supervisory Board (2002-2008). He also was a member of the Science|Business Innovation Board, the Executive Board of the Community of European Management Schools (CEMS), the Deans & Directors Committee of the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) and the Governing Body of Ramon Llull University.
