Kal Sandhu is the interim Head of People at Cambridge Judge Business School, University of Cambridge, where she leads the School’s people strategy for faculty and professional staff. With over 25 years of HR leadership experience, including senior roles in higher education and banking, Kal has developed deep expertise in organisational development, employee relations, workforce planning, and reward.
At CJBS, she plays a central role in shaping the School’s people agenda, supporting strategic priorities such as academic recruitment, succession planning, faculty remuneration, and cultural transformation. Kal has led the School’s HR function through significant change initiatives, including structural reviews, high-profile recruitment campaigns, and the successful Athena SWAN Bronze accreditation. She also chairs the School’s HR managers forum and serves as Secretary to the CJBS Remuneration Committee.
Kal holds a degree in Chemistry, is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD, and recently completed the Chief Human Resources Officer Programme at the University of Cambridge. In addition to her strategic HR work, she is a qualified coach and accredited Mental Health First Aider. She leads the School’s coaching and wellbeing programmes, with a strong emphasis on leadership development and employee resilience.
Her key areas of focus include embedding an inclusive and high-performance culture, advancing leadership capability, and enhancing the digital and human aspects of the employee experience.
